I had a blast making this DIY Christmas present.
Here is what I used.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unrefined shea butter
- 1 cup Coconut Oil
- 2 Tbs. Beeswax Pastilles
- 10 drops peppermint essential oil ( Therapeutic grade)
- 3 Tbs Hershey's Cocoa Powder ( Yumm!)
- 1 drop Vitamin E Oil Trader Joe's
- 1 oz. Stephenson Organic Unscented Lotion Base
Directions
- Add the shea butter, coconut oil, and pastilles to a boil in a sterile pot or double boiler
- Boil on high until completely melted ( for my stovetop that was about 15 minutes but it will vary)
- Pour into mixing bowl.
- Allow to cool 45 minutes - 1 hour ( I tossed mine in the freezer with saran wrap)
- Once solid, mix IN Cocoa powder, essential oil, vitamin E and lotion base.
- Continue until it is thoroughly mixed ( medium- high if you're using a kitchen aid mixer with whisk)
You are done!
It smells freakin' awesome! I almost wanted to eat it. But really, though....
Ingredients
2 cups granulated sugar ( that's the white sugar for those who might be afraid to ask)
1 1/4 cup coconut oil
10-12 drops lavender essential oil
10-20 red and blue food coloring drops
1 tbs Lavender Buds
Directions
1. Mix sugar and room temperature coconut oil. Coconut oil should be solid at first and not liquid. Don't melt it!
2. Add Lavender essential Oil ad food coloring. Make sure you were protective clothing!
3. Add Lavender Buds for decoration
4. Package in a 4 oz mason jar.
This batch makes about 4-5 4 oz. jars.
Notes
Make sure to wear protective clothing so you don't stain your clothes!
Always sterilize your mixing bowls, spoons, and work area.
Large batches as gifts are great, but if you sell them make sure to use FDA requirements (i.e. list ingredients)
10-12 drops are recommended for an adult. Recommended dosages for children and pregnant women should be 5-6 drops.
